What is Chat N Chew?
Chat N Chew is a PTA-sponsored book club for 3rd – 6th graders. Students read a selected book once a month starting in January and going through April. At the end of the month, they meet during their lunchtime to discuss the book with their group and group leader.
What is the goal of Chat N Chew?
The overarching purpose of Chat N Chew is to encourage an enjoyment of reading in all students. We encourage all students to participate- those who already love reading to those who haven’t discovered their love of reading yet!
What books will the students read?
We want every student to find something on the list that interests them! Therefore, some of the goals with book selection are: diversity of genre and writing style, variety of narrator/main character, assortment of life situations and themes, and award winners. The Chat N Chew book list for each grade can be seen HERE.
How do I sign up my student?
Simply click HERE between October 13th and November 8th. You will have the option to buy each title for your student’s grade level at a discounted price through our friends at Barnes and Noble. These books will be delivered to your student’s classroom before winter break.
How do I sign up to be a group leader?
Thanks for being willing to volunteer in this fun and impactful way! During your student’s registration, there will be an option to mark your interest in leading. Group leaders must be MVP trained.
